Til Death Do Us Part: Divorcing My Ego and Remarrying My Destiny
Weddings are monumental celebratory occasions, that hold a special place in our hearts. Death too is a monumental occasion of grief and separation from one’s physical being. What about an emotional death? Together we will examine the separation of one from his own egoistical nature. The grief is confining, surmounting and most painful, yet the freedom is an inexplicable one, the kind you would have to experience to understand.
I was once a man on top. The top dog if you will. Ladies flocked to me, and I was trusted amongst circles of men who carried great of influence. I had a prize hand both in the ring and at life. Many would call me a betting man, and the irony was I was a winner every time. I went from the hard streets of North Philadelphia as a notorious drug dealer turned businessman, to a husband three times over and father of three children.
The old saying is the third time is a charm, for me the third time is the one that almost took me out. Until God showed me it was the experience that came to bury my ego. With the shocking news of divorce looming, God began to rid me of my insatiable desire for love and moreover teach me the real meaning of unconditional love.
The day my ego died, a new me emerged. I found God, I found myself, and ultimately, I found the very thing I had been searching for from a young age.
